SEPANG INTERNATIONAL CIRCUIT PARTNERS WITH SUNWAY EDUCATION GROUP TO OFFER A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE OF THE CIRCUIT AND EVENTS

SEPANG, 4 May 2016 – Sepang International Circuit (SIC) today announced a one-year partnership with Sunway Education Group, which will see students getting a first-hand experience of the state-of-the-art circuit during international events such as the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship 2016, 2016 Formula 1 Malaysia Grand Prix and Shell Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix 2016. This first-of-its-kind partnership for SIC will enable hands-on experiential learning opportunities for the students of Sunway Education Group’s Sunway University and Sunway College.

In the partnership announcement, SIC was represented by Dato’ Razlan Razali, Chief Executive Officer of SIC while the Sunway Education Group was represented by Dr Lee Weng Keng, Chief Executive Officer of Education & Healthcare Division of Sunway Group and Dr Elizabeth Lee, Senior Executive Director of Sunway Education Group & Sunway University. In conjunction with this exciting partnership, Sunway University’s Faculty of Arts will be organising a Helmet Design competition that will be judged by a leading F1 driver, to be revealed later. The partnership also gives students of the university access to the circuit’s multi-faceted facilities and venue offerings, which they will have the right to photograph or film.

“We are proud to partner with Sunway Education Group and provide an exciting learning experience for their students. Students today are the leaders and game-changers of tomorrow, so it is important for them to learn in real-world settings to hit the ground running when they start their career. The Sunway students are also unofficial ambassadors for SIC, using their social media reach to offer a closer look and a virtual experience of the amazing circuit to their peers. We are happy to open our circuit to them so that they will understand and appreciate the complexities of running a world-class circuit and gain valuable ‘money-can’t-buy’ experiences behind the scenes at international races,” said Dato’ Razlan.

“On behalf of the Sunway Education Group, I would like to thank SIC for giving our students this opportunity. As a recognised education institution both locally and globally, we value partnership opportunities that enable us to offer our students valuable learning experiences beyond the campus. This partnership has certainly thrilled the students, who are eagerly looking forward to the WorldSBK Championship in May, as it is the first event the ‘Sunway Sepang Crew’ will be participating in,” said Dr Lee. The students will provide support during events on a voluntary basis and will receive internship credits for their participation.

SIC will be hosting Round 6 of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship this year. The third edition of the Malaysian race will see Malaysian favourite Muhammad Zulfashmi Khairuddin racing in the Supersport category for the first time in Sepang. Be sure to catch him in action as he hopes to outdo himself buoyed by home support. Tickets can be purchased online at www.sepangcircuit.com or from the Customer Service Centre at the circuit.
