FACT SHEET ON THE SIC-MAM MALAYSIA MOTORSPORTS AWARD 2016
- SIC-MAM-SAM Media Award (Best Journalist)
This award is to recognise the contribution by members of the Malaysian media to the development of motorsports through their visionary insights and brilliant commentaries in their writing. This award recognises the SIC-MAM-SAM Motorsports Journalist of the Year.
Criteria for nomination are:
- Nominations may be for any article or articles (minimum 1 to maximum of 3)
- The subject matter can be based on any Malaysian motorsports events.
- The articles must have been published in a Malaysian print / TV/online publication.
Eligibility:
- The article/s must have been written/published between 1 January and 31 December 2016
- The creator of the item must be a Malaysian resident and a member of the Sportswriters Association of Malaysia (SAM)

- SIC-MAM-SAM Media Award (Best Photographer)
This award is to recognise the contribution of Malaysian photographers to the development of motorsports through their creative work and dedication in the pursuit of that one perfect shot. This award recognises the SIC-MAM-SAM Motorsports Photographer of the Year.
Criteria for nomination are:
- Nominees must have had a set of photographs published in the Malaysian print or online media throughout the year.
- Images must be photographed in Malaysia.
Eligibility:
- The photograph must have been published between 1 January and 31 December 2016.
- The creator of the item must be a Malaysian resident and an accredited member of the Malaysian media.

- Team of the Year (Two Wheels)
This award is to recognise outstanding achievement by a Malaysian team in two-wheel motorsports and in recognition of their dedication, commitment and sporting spirit in pursuit of excellence. This award recognises the SIC-MAM-SAM Team of The Year for the 2 Wheels category.
Criteria for nomination are:
- The team has recorded a significant achievement in motorsports at any authorised event in the two-wheel category
- The team’s overall championship standing
- The team has a high number of riders in the categories
- The team has taken additional initiatives to promote the championship
Eligibility:
- Holds a MAM or AAM licence and competed in the National Championship in 2016
- Team of the Year (Four Wheels)
This award is to recognise outstanding achievement by a Malaysian team in four-wheel motorsports and in recognition of their dedication, commitment and sporting spirit in pursuit of excellence. This award recognises the SIC-MAM-SAM Team of The Year for the 4 Wheels category.
Criteria for nomination are:
- The team has recorded a significant achievement in motorsports at
any authorised events in the four-wheel category
- The team's overall championship standing
- The team has a high number of drivers in the categories
- The team has taken additional initiatives in promoting the championship
Eligibility:
- Holds a MAM or AAM licence and competed in the National Championship in 2016
- National Championship Award
This award is to recognise outstanding Malaysians in their pursuit of excellence and glory in a national championship held in Malaysia. This award recognises Malaysia's top performer in a National Championship.
Criteria for nomination are:
- A participant with outstanding achievement in motorsports at any event organised by SIC, particularly the Malaysia Championship Series and the Malaysia Superbike Championship
- Winner evaluated based on the following elements:
- dedication
- skill
- attitude
- peer recognition
- knowledge
- achievements in motorsports
Eligibility:
- Holds a MAM or AAM licence and competed in the National Championship in 2016
- Malaysia Motorsports People's Choice Award
The People's Choice Award is a special award for fans to honour their hero in recognition of his/her outstanding achievements in the pursuit of glory for the nation. From a shortlisted selection based on their outstanding performance and impact to the sport and the community, the athlete is voted through social media by the fans to win the Malaysia Motorsports People's Choice Award.
Criteria for nomination are:
- A good role model to his peers and fans of motorsports
- A personality in the motorsports arena who promotes motorsports in a positive light
- A current competitor at any international series or series held outside Malaysia. Being a competitor in a World Championship is an added advantage.
Eligibility:
- The nominee must have competed in a World Championship or an equivalent series in 2016
- Malaysia Motorsports Hall of Fame
In its inaugural year, the Malaysia Motorsports Hall of Fame celebrates the greatest names in racing across F1, MotoGP, two wheel and four wheel motorsports in Malaysia. The award is the highest recognition that can be conferred upon any person for his/her outstanding individual contribution to the development of Malaysian motorsports.
Criteria for nomination are:
- They have recorded significant achievements at the highest level of motorsports
- Voluntary contribution to motorsports which stands out above all else
Eligibility:
- The nominee can be any Malaysian or Malaysian-based individual, group or organisation that is or has been active in the motorsports arena, from team members, to competitors, organisation, clubs and so on.

Criteria for nomination are:
- The candidate has achieved significant milestones in their career so far
- Demonstrated superior riding talent compared to his or her peer group
- Showed determination and commitment to motorsports with the potential to progress to greater achievements in motorsports internationally
Eligibility:
- Holds a FIM and AAM licence and competed in World and Asian level Championships in 2016
- Best Rider of the Year (2 Wheels)
This award is the highest recognition for outstanding achievement by a Malaysian racer in two-wheel motorsports at any level of competition - international or domestic for the year in review.
Criteria for nomination are:
- The candidate has achieved significant milestones in their career so far
- Demonstrated superior driving talent compared to his or her peer group
- Showed determination and commitment to motorsports with the potential to progress to greater achievements in motorsports internationally
Eligibility:
- Holds a FIA and AAM licence and competed in World and Asian level Championship in 2016
