MotoGP™️ SEPANG OFFICIAL TEST IN FEBRUARY CANCELLED, ALL ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS POSTPONED DURING MCO

Wednesday, 13 January 2021 - Sepang International Circuit (SIC) regret to announce the cancellation of the MotoGP™️ Sepang Official Test and the Shakedown Test due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Originally, the MotoGP™️ Sepang Official Test and the Shakedown Test were scheduled to take place on 12 to 21 February 2021. The FIM, IRTA and Dorna Sports S.L., the organizer for MotoGP™️ said the outbreak in Malaysia has led to lockdowns and complications have obliged the cancellation of said events. At the moment, the Qatar Test sets to be confirmed on 10 to 12 March 2021.

Chief Executive Officer of SIC, Azhan Shafriman Hanif said, “We are truly disappointed on this cancellation and I’m sure this is sad news for MotoGP™️ fans in Malaysia and all over the world. We were looking forward to watch the actions from the Official Test before the season starts. However, with the recent Covid-19 spike, the safety and wellbeing of those involved remain our top priority and we can’t afford to risk the health of others.”

Meanwhile, all activities and events in SIC during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period from 13 to 26 January will be postponed until further notice. This, unfortunately, affects the track day activities and the upcoming Round 2 of Malaysia Superbike Championship (MSBK) from 20 to 22 January.
