SEPANG, 27th January 2018 - Malaysia’s Moto2 rider Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah and three-time Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia Champion, Afiq Ikhwan Yazid have been hailed as the country’s best performer in motorsports as dynamic duo took top honours at the Shell SIC Motorsports Association of Malaysia Awards 2017 here this evening.

SEPANG, 5 December 2017 – It was an exciting weekend for Malaysian drivers in the Asian Le Mans Series in Japan as they scored two podium finishes at the Fuji International Speedway.Malaysian top driver Jazeman Jaafar had a promising start in his foray into the Asian Le Mans Series after finishing on the podium in Round 2 of the 4 Hours of Fuji Race in Japan on Sunday.

The decision on whether the Malaysian round of Formula 1 remains as part of the Grand Prix calendar has weighed heavy on the Government of Malaysia and Sepang International Circuit (SIC). Since the first Formula 1 PETRONAS Malaysian Grand Prix (F1PMGP) which was held in 1999, the event has been a pride for the nation helping to cement Malaysia’s reputation as a venue for top international sporting events, besides promoting Malaysia as a global tourist destination. However, it is timely now for Malaysia to re-examine the international events that it hosts with a view of reallocating the investment in new areas.

To be held on 13 February 2017 at the Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur hotel, the awards night recognises and honours individuals, organisations and teams for their contribution in developing Malaysian motorsports.

As we near the middle of January, we are heading into the final round of the 2016-2017 Asian Le Mans Series! With just over a week gone since round 3 in Buriram, the teams are heading to Sepang in Malaysia for the final round of the series – the 4 Hours of Sepang, held on the 21st and 22nd of January. It’s only a few days to go until we find out who will be crowned Asian LMS champion and win their places for the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June later this year.
