Sepang 1000KM - Hafizh Syahrin’s Debut for S1K

Wednesday, 20th November 2019– The 11th edition of the Sepang 1000km Endurance Race 2019 (S1K) from 22 to 24 November 2019 will be an interesting one to all motorsport savvies out there where Malaysia’s biggest name in motorcycle racing, Hafizh Syahrin participates for the first time.The superstar started his first training for the S1K with his team Hi-Rev SIC Dream Chaser last week.Seated at the passenger seat, Hafizh was driven by Mitchell Cheah, SIC Talent Development Programme driver who is competing in the TCR Germany and will also participate in the S1K race as a competitor, Hafizh trained on car handling, the track, frictions, performances among others. The 5 hours training is to ensure the right fittings and comfort with the car as the racing line for both motorcycles and cars are technically not in the same coordination.He will be put on test for his racing skills from two wheels to four wheels in a Toyota Vios car number 910. The S1K will be his first competitive four-wheel racing to prepare for his wildcard debut in the FIA World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) at SIC on 15th December 2019.“The transitions from two wheels to four wheels is something different in terms of tactical and strategy. I need to prepare well as both mental and physical are at high stakes. I will need to quickly adapt to the different racing maneuvers of four wheels on the track,” he said.The Redbull KTM Tech 3 rider added that he aims to do his best for the S1K. He will have a tight schedule; after the testing for the S1K, Hafizh recently concluded the ValenciaGP for the last season of MotoGP before coming back to Malaysia for the S1K race this weekend. He will then continue to test his new bike with the Moto2 team, Angel Nieto at Valencia for the 2020 Championship and finally gear up for the final race of the season with the Races of Malaysia, which is a challenging weekend for Hafizh as he will be racing back to back for the Sepang 8 Hours Endurance Motorcycle Racing; Endurance World Championship on Saturday and the final race of the World Touring Car Cup on Sunday.This weekend at the S1K, Hafizh Syahrin will be partnering the young and talented Alister Yoong, the son of Malaysia’s Formula 1 driver, Alex Yoong together with Bradley Benedict Anthony, the 17-year old uprising star in Malaysian motorsports.Malaysia’s celebrities, Shuib Sepahtu, Sharnaaz Ahmad and Zizan Razak joining the S1K under team 23 motors.The S1K race will start on Saturday, 23 November 2019 from 12.20pm in the afternoon and ends at 9.20pm with a total of 181 laps. Fans will also get to watch the exciting support races with the prestigious Audi R8 LMS Cup and F4 SEA Championship which will compete on Saturday and Sunday.A total of 72 cars will be joining for the S1K Championship this Saturday forming one of the biggest line-up on grid. Motorsports fans can come and watch with free entrance to the Main Grandstand or catch the race exclusively with the Paddock Pass at RM100.
