FINAL 10 KARTERS FOR SIC X30 NATIONAL KARTING SERIES ROOKIES CUP 2019 SELECTED

Monday, 24 June 2019-Eight-year old Saif Khalifa Erwin will be the youngest among the final 10 karters selected to compete in the SIC X30 National Karting Series Rookies Cup 2019 on a full sponsorship package under SIC Talent Development programme.

 

Born on 6 August 2011, Saif will be joined for the three-round championship by Muhammad Feroz Fezril, Muhammad Daniel Hakimi Mohd Zahid, Firasz Azri Khairul Badri, Mohamad Hasif Zainal Abidin, Dani Irfan Hairul Anuar, Mohamad Hafiz Daniel Rozemen, Lim Shogun, Mohamad Anaqi Mohammad Hafifi and Saw Guan Xian.

 

Aged between eight and 12 years old, the young karters are among over 50 kids who applied for trial outs before a final group 15 karters was shortlisted and contested yesterday at Sepang International Go-Kart Circuit for the selection to compete in the second edition of the SIC X30 Rookies Cup.

 

Apart from time recorded in today’s on-track trials, selection for inclusion in the programme also included the karters’ ability, awareness and their discipline.

 

While attached to the SIC Talent Development, the younger karters will coached by top Malaysian drivers - Dominic Ang, Brendan Paul Anthony and Jeremy Lee. Jeremy, who was chief coach at yesterday's selection, is an accomplished karter, topping various karting championship including a commendable second overall in last year's sic x30 championship. Brandon have been racing for the past 14 Years including 12 years in karting. Apart from winning the Toyota gazoo championship for the sporting category, Brendan has also won the MCS MTC overall championship 2018 and also 3rd overall in Toyota gazoo super sporting class 2019. Started his racing career since the age of 10 in karting, Dominic has progressed into one of Malaysia's most celebrated drivers. From his early days in the Petronas Formula Xperience before being part of a hugely successful Petronas Syntium Team where he bagged 3 Super Taikyu titles in Japan and 2 MMER titles. He is the 2018 China GT GTC class champion and has recently competed in the Road To Le Mans 2019 alongside Viper Niza. Dominic has been a coach for Maxima Motorsports karting team, Michelin, Infiniti, Motul, Ferrari and Porsche driving experience events. Like Jeremy, Brendan and Dominic are top highly experienced karters, using karting as the launching pad for their racing careers.

 

In this year’s competition, the newly selected karters will be joined by five graduates from the maiden group – Ahmad Mikael Ahmad Shareza, Nurul Auni Nasharuddin, Sophia Zara Mustaffa Kamal, Hendra Ade Putra Priyanto and Adam Harris Jeffry, whom finished the championship outside the Top 5 in Rookies Cup 2018. The Top 5 finishers from the inaugural champion Putera Hani Imran Halim, Putera Haikal Hakeem Halim, Aldrin Jiacheng Foo Cabiles and Putera Alex Qiefli Esam were promoted to compete in the Cadet category whilst Raja Ariff Raja Azmi in the Junior category in the IAME Series Asia 2019.

 

The three-round Rookies Cup, which is run together with the SIC IAME Series Asia 2019, opens in Sepang International Kart Circuit on 6th and 7th July 2019 before proceeding in Langkawi for its second round on 3rd and 4th August. The final round will be held on 14th and 15th September at Sepang International Kart Circuit.
