KASMA GRABBED VICTORY AS AZROY FALTERED
Opening round of the 2025 AEON CREDIT MAM MALAYSIA SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP took place today at the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit. Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin of Hong Leong Yamaha Malaysia claimed victory in Race 1 of the MSBK1000 A category.

During the qualifying session this morning, Kasma clocked the fastest lap at 2’06:084s. The second-fastest was Muhd Helmi Azman of Honda Racing Malaysia at 2'06:178s, while his teammate Azroy Hakeem Anuar secured third with 2'06:719s.

Helmi led the race at the start, followed by Azroy, with Kasma in P3. At P4, Md Adam Md Norrodin of AMI SUZUKI MOTORSPORT and Lachlan Epis of Savitar Team Asia battled for position. Unfortunately, Lachlan crashed at Turn 8 on Lap 3, forcing him out of the race.

By Lap 7, Azroy was leading and hit a top speed of 292.7km/h, attempting to distance himself from Kasma at P2. Kasma, however, stayed close behind, and the two created a 0:713s gap from the rest of the group.

Azroy’s hopes of a podium win were dashed due to a technical issue, allowing Kasma, Helmi, and Adam to overtake and drop him to P4.

Kasma secured the win with a time of 21'18:489s. Helmi finished second at 21'19:320s, and Adam placed third at 21'27:766s.

Kasma said, "If Azroy hadn’t had that technical issue, there’s no way I could’ve overtaken him — his bike was like a rocket. I had already accepted finishing second. But luck was on my side today. Still, I won’t get too excited yet — we’ve got Race 2 tomorrow, and I’m sure Azroy will come back strong."

IZAM TIMED IT RIGHT
The opening round of the 2025 AEON CREDIT MAM MALAYSIA SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP took place today at the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit. Muhd Izam Ikmal Izamli of GTMAX took the win today in Race 1 of the Berjaya Sompo YAMAHA R15M Race Elites category.

During the qualifying session this morning, Asyraff Zaquan Zainal Raif of TKC Racing posted the fastest lap time at 2’52:433s. The second-fastest was Muhd Khairi Asyraf Mahmood of SINGDECA DYNAMIC at 2'52:490s, followed by Abdullah Qayyum Abd Razak of XL MOTOR with a time of 2'53:175s.

Izam led the group at the race start. Although he was overtaken a few times, he managed to reclaim the lead with determination.

It was a tightly contested battle throughout, and with such a narrow gap between riders, it was difficult to predict the winner.

By Lap 6, Md Adie Putra Sukarno of WELLY ASSORTED RAWANG RACING TEAM surged to the front, picking up speed to distance himself from the pack.

On the final straight, just as Adie looked set to clinch the victory, Izam executed a perfectly timed move to overtake and cross the finish line first with a time of 20'22:541s.

Adie finished second at 20'22:579s, followed by Muhd Iqbal Amri Abdul Malek of HENN BIKERS RACING at 20'22:668s.

Izam said, "I just focused on my pace and, as always, tried to maintain the gap with the other riders. But it wasn’t easy, especially in this one-make category. At one point, I was stuck in the middle of the group—it was aggressive racing with riders on all sides. I was lucky on the last lap to get a really good slipstream and gave it that extra push. I’m also thankful to Adie for the slipstream that helped me cross the finish line first."
