STRATEGIC COOPERATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN PETRONAS SEPANG INTERNATIONAL CIRCUIT AND CHENGDU TIANFU INT

On January 8th, the management of the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit visited Chengdu Tianfu International Circuit. Geely Mintimes Group played host to the honored guests from the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit, and both sides had in-depth exchanges in the fields of circuit construction, circuit operation, event operations, and racing training.

Mr. Azhan Shafriman Hanif (CEO of the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit), Ms. Caroline Lee (CFO), Mr. Faisal Zakaria (Head of Strategic Planning), together with Mr. Mervin Lim (Executive Director of World Commerce Freight System Sdn. Bhd.) and Mr. Steven Tan (Head of International Business Department) visited the newly opened Chengdu Tianfu International Circuit, accompanied by Mr. Xiaodong Weng (President of Geely Mintimes Group), Mr. Xugang Xie (Vice President), Ms. Weili Zhang (Vice President), and Mr. Jie Chen (General Manager of Chengdu Tianfu International Circuit/Ningbo International Circuit).

After visiting the circuit, honored executives and guests of the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit highly praised the Chengdu Tianfu International Circuit for its international first-class level design and construction. The PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit hopes to work together with Chengdu Tianfu International Circuit and Mintimes GP to introduce more international events to China, fully utilising the resources of both sides to explore further potential for cooperation and promote economic and cultural exchanges between Malaysia and China through racing events.

The leadership of Geely Mintimes Group expressed gratitude for the recognition of the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit and looked forward to mutual learning between both sides in the field of circuit management and event operation. They hope to achieve more collaborative projects with PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit in the future.

During the visit, Geely Mintimes Group had in-depth exchanges with the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit. Both sides plan to fully integrate and mobilize their respective advantageous resources to explore the possibilities of cooperation in talent development programs, driver recommendation, IP event alliance, motorsports events exchange, circuit team interaction and other aspects, to realize resource exchange and sharing. The IP event alliance planned by both sides will focus on mutual learning and discussion of sports and technical rules development of self-operated events, sharing commercial resources related to local events and championships, collaborating and hosting new events together and several other potential areas.

The PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit, founded in 1998, was designed by German designer Hermann Tilke and hosted F1 Grand Prix (F1) from 1999 to 2017. The Circuit recently held the PETRONAS Grand Prix of Malaysia – Motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP™) in November 2023 and attracted almost 183,000 spectators to the event and also previously hosted World Touring Car Cup (WTCR), Asia Le Mans Series (ALMS), Superbike World Championship (WSBK) and so on. With a total length of 5.543km, the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit is famous for its two long straights, advanced facilities, the iconic Hibiscus Tower and unique North and South Main Grandstand.

Geely Mintimes Group will further collaborate with PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit in the future to jointly promote racing cultural exchanges between Malaysia and China and build international event IPs together.
