SIC JOINS MACC FOR THE CORRUPTION FREE PLEDGE

Wednesday, 4thMarch 2020 - Sepang International Circuit (SIC) have given their commitment towards the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) effort in fighting corruption by signing the Corruption Free Pledge better known as Ikrar Bebas Rasuah (IBR) yesterday.

The pledge ceremony, held at SIC, was attended by Director of MACC Community Education Division, TPj. Haji Razim Mohd Noor, MACC’s of Branch for Socio-Culture and Politics, Encik Samsul Salip, SIC’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dato’ Razlan Razali, SIC’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Caroline Lee, MACC’s officers and all SIC’s employees.

The ceremony’s main highlight was the zero-tolerance pledge against corruption and also a declaration by the signatories to the stakeholders that corruption is intolerable.

According to Samsul Salip, “fighting and combating corruption is not the exclusive responsibility of MACC per se; on the other hand, it is the collective duty and responsibility of all members of society, particularly those serving in government agencies, to achieve a nation free from all forms of corruption and abuse of power.

For the year 2019, there are almost 7,724 cases reported to MACC however only 1,039 cases are related to corruptions. Publics mostly misinterprets about MACC’s jurisdiction. MACC can only carry out investigation, we don’t have the power to charge any party or organizations. It will fall under the Attorney General of Malaysia”, he added.

The oath of the Corruption Free Pledge was led by Dato’ Razlan Razali, before a signing session was held, witnessed by TPj. Haji Razim Mohd Noor and Ms. Caroline Lee.

This effort is to strengthen the company’s governance based on integrity and ethical work culture.

Dato’ Razlan Razali said that, “This is our commitment to make sure we are free from any form of corruption. SIC practice good governance, professionalism, and work with integrity. This is what I practice, we practice and the board practice.”

The ceremony ended with photo sessions between SIC and MACC.
