While the Malaysia Superbike Championship (MSBK) enters its second round for its 2017 season, the fifth edition of the MAM Kapcai Endurance National Championship reaches its climax with its grand finals to crown its new champions.

“It will be something special for the fans as they get to see actions from all classes of mean machines with the Kapcai Endurance race running on underbone bikes and the MSBK pitting the higher powered machines from 250cc to 1000cc superbikes,” said Dato’ Razlan Razali, Chief Executive Officer of Sepang International Circuit (SIC) – the promoter and organizer of MSBK.

The Grand Finals of MAM Kapcai Endurance is held after three rounds of preliminaries, which was held at the ELITE Speedway in Subang, Sepang Go Kart Circuit in Sepang and Dato’ Sagor Racing Track, Kampung Gajah in Perak – the home of Moto2 rider, Khairul Idham Pawi.

Despite featuring only three preliminaries this year, the 2017 MAM Kapcai Endurance managed to draw participation nationwide as teams from as far as Johor, Perlis and Terengganu competed for the right to be called Malaysia’s Kapcai King of The Year.

“Since we introduced this event, it has been a huge hit from the biking communities especially grassroots and ‘kapcai’ users mainly from remote areas as it gave them the opportunity to test their skills in a professional racing atmosphere.

“Nevertheless, we are happy with what we have managed to come out this year and keep the agenda going. That’s the most important thing for us and we are definitely happy that our very own Moto2 rider, Khairul Idham Pawi had put up his own SuperKIP Academy Team in Kampung Gajah to compete this year,” added Dato' Razlan.

Divided in categories in accordance to four classes of bikes – under 100cc, under 120cc and under 150cc, the organizer had also established a fourth category for open class, which group seasoned and active racers using under 150cc bikes to provide a level playing field and encourage fresh talents to participate.

“Similar to the trend in previous years, we saw little know motorbike garages and workshops coming in to participate as they put their creativity and technical skills in building their racing bikes. This is also something that we are encouraging in expanding the business side of the sports,” Dato' Razlan said.

The MSBK event features the 1000cc Superbike Championship, the 1000cc Superstock Championship, the 600cc Supersport Championship, a 250cc Open Cup and a KTM RC390 one-make race; pitting top Malaysian riders facing international rivals from as far as India and Australia.

“The competitors completed the first of a five-leg championship last month. Round 3 will be at the end of July, which will be followed by another from 15 to 17 September. The final round and Round 5 will be held from 24 to 26 November,”

Fans can catch all the actions for free from the Main Grandstand. To get closer to the actions, fans can purchase special paddock passes at RM85 which will be put on sale at the Paddock Entrance.

Alternatively, they can catch the actions on Facebook and Youtube through ‘live-viewing’ on the social media for MSBK race.

"With the extensive and positive support we received from the live streaming in the past rounds, this time we will showcase both Race 1 and Race 2 scheduled on Saturday and Sunday. This is the ideal platform for fans to follow our national championships and for partners and sponsors to come on board by sponsoring and allowing more teams the opportunity to compete." added Dato' Razlan.
