MALAYSIA TOURING CAR CHAMPIONSHIP (MTCC) RETURNS FOR ROUND 3 WITH HONDA MEGA MEET LIFESTYLE FESTIVAL DEBUT

Friday, 8 August 2025 – The battle for supremacy in the Malaysia Touring Car Championship (MTCC) 2025 intensifies as Round 3 roars into action this weekend, from 8 to 10 August 2025, at the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit (SIC). After a fiercely contested Round 2 that saw rivalries ignite and margins tighten across the field, teams and drivers now return to the track with renewed determination, all vying for crucial championship points in the second half of the season.


Adding to the excitement, this round also welcomes the debut of Honda Mega Meet 2025, Malaysia’s largest gathering of Honda enthusiasts, hosted in conjunction with MTCC Round 3. Organised by Ahem Ideas Sdn. Bhd., this all-day festival is expected to attract more than 5,000 visitors, transforming the venue into a vibrant motorsports and lifestyle festival. There will be interesting lineup of activations such as car showcases and contests, family-friendly activities, food & beverage, merchandise booths, lucky draw and community-driven parade lap and pit-tours.


“Round 3 is a huge milestone for MTCC. Not only are we seeing the largest grid of the season so far, but we’re also introducing the first-of-its-kind Honda Mega Meet - a dynamic fusion of lifestyle and motorsports, and the largest gathering of Honda enthusiasts in a fresh, exciting format. Adding to the excitement, Honda Malaysia Racing Team (HMRT) will make its season debut in Rounds 3 and 4. As a new entrant, HMRT will carry a 30kg ballast on top of the minimum weight as part of the series’ regulations. With title battles heating up and enhanced fan engagement on the ground, MTCC is evolving into something much bigger than just a race weekend,” said Azhan Shafriman Hanif, Chief Executive Officer of Sepang International Circuit.


Alongside MTCC, fans will enjoy a full track schedule with over 132 cars throughoutthe weekend with Asia Classic Car Challenge/Caterham returning to event for Round 3, alongside Round 3 of Toyota Vios Challenge. In addition, TSS Super Series (Round 3) is making its debut at MTCC this season, further enhancing the race weekend experience for fans and motorsports enthusiasts.

 

As the championship hits the halfway mark of the season, the points standings remain incredibly tight across all four categories.

  1. MTC: Lai Wee Seng & Leon Khoo (R-Engineering Honda CR-Z) – 56 pts
  2. MT2:
    • V: Lee Chee Wah & Lester Lian (Axwerkz Suzuki Swift) – 48 pts
    • G: Hendra Ade Putra & Ady Rahimy (Niza Racing Honda GK) – 41 pts
  3. TP: Wong Yew Choong (Modern Racing Team Honda FK8) – 59 pts
  4. TP2: Chiow Teck Song (R-Engineering Honda FD2R) – 61 pts

 

Championship ballast will continue to be applied to the top three entries in each category, ensuring fair and strategic racing as drivers and teams begin their final push for the title.
The popular E-Sport Time Attack x Rakan Muda returns for its second round, offering a virtual racing experience on-site. Participants can compete in the sim challenge for a chance to win exciting prizes, including a Hankook tyre voucher worth RM1,760. This initiative continues to bridge the gap between digital and real-world motorsports, creating fresh ways for fans, primarily the youth to engage with the sport.


Meanwhile, fans seeking a premium race weekend experience can opt for the Paddock Hospitality Pass, priced at RM318 for full 2-day access. General Paddock Passes are also available at RM100 for 3-day access.
