Zamani Just 0.004s Behind Kuhara

ONLY 0.004 seconds separate Malaysian Ahmad Zamani Baharuddin and the pole sitter Yasuhiro Kuhara of Japan in the Malaysian Super Series Round 2 Superbike competition at the Sepang International Circuit tomorrow.

Ahmad Zamani of AFY Racing Malaysia managed to clock 1:07.088s around the North Track of the circuit however the Japanese stole the precious pole position as he crossed the start/finish line in 1:07.084s.

"It is definitely a close competition between both of us so it is going to be interesting to see what happens tomorrow (Sunday)," said Ahmad Zamani.

As for Kuhara, the pole position advantage will be crucial to ensure a second win of the season.

"The race is going to be close as both machines seem to be equally powerful," said Kuhara who picked up the win in the opening round at the same venue on April 19.

Moto Gear Racing Team rider Abd Rahim Muhamad Sidek recorded the third fastest time of 1:08.624s.

It was a star-studded cast leading the Supersports category.

Malaysian Cub Prix champion Ahmad Fuad Baharuddin was the pole winner with a total time of 1:08.308s with Azlan Shah coming in a close second 0.197s behind.

In third was, MotoGP 125cc aspirant Zamri Baba with a time of 1:08.659S.

The Production Bike category saw defending champion Ahmad Azhar Hamid returning to the grid in style.

Ahmad clocked 1:18.293s to start on pole tomorrow with Round 1 winner Rizal Jantan in second place with a time of 1:18.465s.

"With Ahmad in the fray, I will have to keep my mistakes minimum and find the extra second to beat him," said Rizal, who bagged the Production Bike and Bikerz Mag 150 Cup win in the season opener.



Meanwhile, the Bikerz Mag 150 Cup will see Syafiq Omar Ali start in front at tomorrow's race.

K. Sellaperumal came in second fastest and Ahmad Azhar was third quickest with a time of 1:18.344s.

The Motor Trader RS125 Challenge Cup once again saw the Junior riders conquer the grid.

Mohd Zaqhwan Zaidi timed at 1:23.423s to take pole with fellow Junior GP graduate Amirul Haziq Mohd Azmi taking second spot in 1:24.114s.

Australian Zac Levy was close behind in third spot with a time of 1:24.332s around the 2.765km track.

"It is another race weekend which my focus is 100 percent on winning. I hope the weather will remain clear for some exciting race tomorrow against Amirul and Zac," said the jovial 13-year-old Zaqhwan.
