Teams Complete Round One Qualifying For The 2009 S1K Race

Team Type R set the pace for today’s qualifying round of the Sepang 1000km (S1K) race In the Class 1 qualifying run.

The team managed to clock a blazing 2:38.046 in their Honda Integra to compare to the 2:39.357 they clocked yesterday.

Almost three seconds behind is team Pentagon J’s Racing DC2 with 2:40.967 and third fastest is team JDMS Lochi.

In Class 2 Lai wee Seng failed to repeat yesterday’s performance with a time of 2:39.905 in practice when his team only managed 2:43.488.

The Class 2 lead was snatched by team HPC Kegani with the time of 2.40.220 followed closely behind by team Tung Chun Racing with a time of 2:40.624.

Third fastest was car number 95 with driver TJ Wong clocking 2:41.384.

In the support race, the Aston Martin Asia Cup, Dilantha Malagamuwa of team Dilango took pole potation for the second time in the season ahead of team Concord Racing driver Mark Williamson.

Dilantha just managed to cross the line with the fastest time of 2:20.717 and Mark Willamson at 2:20.788.

ThunderAsia Racing with driver Melvin Choo took third placement with 2:21.387.

Class 1 and Class 2 of the S1K race will continue their qualifying runs after lunch break while the Aston Martin Asia Cup is scheduled to start its first round later on today at 4.30pm.
