Team Petronas Syntium Dominates Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race

The tenth edition of the 12 hour Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race (MMER) is at its halfway mark or 6 hours and both of the team Petronas Syntium cars which was leading the race since the second hour of the race is still up front of the pack.

Completing 155 laps, both of the BMW Z4 is ahead of the third place team Dilango Racing Sri-Lanka’s Porsche.

Apart from the on track action, spectators were also entertained with the various side events that were planned throughout race day.

In the morning the kids were entertained with appearance of Fatin Nurafifah before they go for a colouring contest and lunch sponsored by A&W.

There was also a fire fighting demonstration by the KLIA fire and rescue brigade and also present for display was a classic fire truck.

Not to be left out is the police department showcasing their latest interceptor vehicles, the Mitsubishi EVO 10 and Honda bikes.

Apart from that there was Miss Malaysia fitness and 1608 fitness dance promo later on the day.

To commemorate the tenth edition of MMER, SIC presented a commemorative memento to the family of the late Tan Sri Basir Ismail, the person who envisioned MMER. Receiving the memento was Tan Sri Basir’s eldest son Ahmad Riza Ismail.

Also receiving memento were the nine previous winners of MMER starting with the Petronas EON racing team, followed by TVR Sports Malaysia, Naza Jaseri Racing Team, G1 Meritus Racing, Amprex Proton R3, Proton R3 Motorsport, Hong Leong Kencana Racing and finally last year’s winner Porsche Club Singapore.
The MMER will finish at 11.30pm tonight.
