TALENT ABOUNDS AT S1K COLOURING CONTEST

Sepang, June 5, 2010: It may just be a colouring contest, but 11-years old Chang Zaun Yi’s creative talent took the judges by heart when she transformed the ordinary black-and-white printed images into a veritable work of art .

The Standard Five student from Kepong had drawn the Malaysian flag and even a bird sitting in the branches of a tree into the picture, winning herself the first prize in the 10-12 year old category in the Colouring Contest.

She won a medal and a hamper sponsored by A&W, as well as a two days, one night stay at Concorde Hotel, KLIA.

Her mother, Jennifer Tay, 43, said she had enrolled Chang in art classes when she was six years old.

“She had always loved art, and we decided to enrol her in art classes so that she could develop her talent,” said Tay, who was the second place winner in the colouring competition for parents, where they had to colour the pictures within the time limit of 10 minutes.

There was fun aplenty for the participants with the A&W Bear mascot and popular cartoon characters Upin and Ipin as well as the Japan SuperGT queens, Mimi and Koko, who held an impromptu dance session with the participants. There were also inflatables for the children, who had a fabulous time enjoying themselves at the event.
For categories 4-6 years old and 7-9 years old, winner took home medals and hampers sponsored by A&W.
