ITALY, JUNE 6, 2010: Malaysian MotoGP 125cc rider Zulfahmi Khairuddin rode a strong race in the fourth round of the MotoGP World Championship, finishing at the 21st spot, while his teammate, Sturla Fagerhaug crashed out.

Zulfahmi clocked in at 41’12.694 on the Mugello track. During the qualifying round on Saturday, the 18-year old rider finished at the 27th position at 2'02.586, while his teammate, Fagerhaug qualified at the 19th spot, clocking in at 2'01.351.

The 36-year old Mugello track in Italy is perhaps one of the most challenging track for MotoGP riders, famous for its fast curves and its incredible slopes.  Their performance at the track has always been a decisive factor in the final results for the MotoGP World Championship.

The total length of the track is 5,245 m., divided almost equally between straights and curves. the curves take up 48,5% of the total length of the track, with 15 turns, 9 to the right and 6 to the left. The width of the track varies between 9,6 and 14 metres.
The longest straight is in front of the pits and is 1,141 metres long. The circuit is situated at 292 metres above sea level.

SIC CEO Razlan Razali said it was a good learning experience for the young rider.
“He had been improving on his times and position in every round of the MotoGP Championship. He has been very consistent in finishing his races, and had earned valuable experience.

“As a new rider, he has had a very short time to learn the tracks, and he has been finishing the races when many others were unable to. His determination to improve is very evident, and I am sure that we are all proud of his achievements so far,” said Razlan.

Based on his performance, we could see that he is now well adapted to the bike, and beginning to show some on-track maturity. Although the track is fairly new to him, it did not bother him and he remained focused on finishing the race.

“As for Sturla, it was unfortunate that he crashed out, but I am sure he will be returning in good form for the next race” he said.  

After Mugello, the highly anticipated British Grand Prix will come next on 18 – 20 June 2010. MotoGP fans will be keen to see how the race machines will fare on the newly reconfigured Silverstone Circuit.
