As the pitlane gossips about the much anticipated Sepang 1000km race on June 4-6 at the prestigious Sepang International Circuit, race organisers are confident to stage a successful event.

With the race estimated to run for 9 hours and somewhere in the region of 182 laps of the full circuit, tyres would definitely play a major role for competing teams.
In fact to ensure a smooth yet exciting race, SIC as the race organisers have signed with tyre company Multistrada Arah Sarana who will be providing it's impressive Achilles 123 model.
The Archilles 123 has been named as the official tyre for the race a compulsory requirement for all competing outfits.

The semi-slick medium-hard compound tyres can be used in both wet and dry conditions.
Sized at 195/50/15 (width/profile/rim) SIC is confident the tyre will be able to meet the race requirement and also fit teams budget.
"Despite being low in cost the tyre has met the standard at other events," said SIC CEO Razlan Razali.
"Although it is the first time SIC will be engaging MASA as the official tyre provider, the brand is a well known name in Indonesia, particularly it's rallying scene," he said.
Priced at RM275 per tyre, SIC will have a total of 1400 tyres brought in in which they are confident would be sufficient for the grueling weekend.
Research has revealed that the tyres are able to provide maximum grip In Sepang International Circuit.
"The low price yet good quality, high performance and excellent in braking that the tyre promises allows smaller teams to keep their budget low and it is among the reasons why SIC chose the Achilles 123 as the official tyre for the Sepang 1000km," said Razlan.
Open to production cars below 1900cc - Class B and C of the old MME; the introduction of the 1000-km race has now split the Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race and, perhaps, effectively eliminated the painful experience
of non qualifiers at the 12-hour race.
A maximum of 77 cars would be allowed to start the race with the quota set at 38 cars for Class 1 for cars between 1650cc to 1900cc and another 39 cars for Class 2 for cars with engine capacity below 1600cc.
With a minimum of two drivers and a maximum of four drivers to a car, the winner would be decided based on the total number of laps among those who completed the 1000km-test, which would be held on June 6.
Qualifying would be held on the preceding June 5 while the process of registration, scrutineering and free practice would be done on June 4.
