PERAJUN KRISHNAN sent shockwaves to the Malaysian Super Series Supersixteen pits after emerging fastest in the qualifiers at the Sepang International Circuit yesterday.

Perajun clocked 1:16.454s around the North Track circuit just slightly faster than Damian Dielenberg who posted a time of 1:16.586s.

Ian Lee came in third fastest while defending champion Wong Yew Choong only managed to book the fourth spot in tomorrow's starting grid.

"The car is in a good condition and hopefully we will have a problem free race tomorrow (today)," said Perajun.

"The pole position start does not mean it is going to be an easy race as the grid is filled with good drivers such as Boy Wong (Yew Choong) and Damian Dielenberg to name a few."

"To make the most of the front row start I have to keep the mistakes as low as possible, be extra aware of drivers getting close and not let Damian or Wong catch me napping," said Perajun.

"My mechanic and I have been having problems today’s but we hope to be able to rectify the problem before the race," said Yew Choong who will be in his Honda Civic EK for top honours.

In the Asian Touring Car Series Cheung Chi Sing was the fastest of the day registering a cool 1:14.132s to be a second ahead of the rest.

Alex Henry D'Silva was second fastest while Danny Stacy Chau will be starting at third in tomorrow's race.

Meanwhile in the Classic Car race, Simon Westbrook won the 12 laps Race 1.

He crossed the chequered flag ahead of Nick Thomas while Daniel Bilski snatched the final podium spot.
