Boy Wong Back With Type R

12 May 2009, BY Sepang International Circuit
DESPITE starting as a privateer in the opening round of this season's Malaysian Super Series, Wong Yew Choong will be back with his Type R Team for Round 2 at the Sepang International Circuit this weekend.

"There were some unresolved issues prior to the first round but we have come to an agreement now and I am excited to be back in action with the crew," said Yew Choong or affectionately known as Boy Wong in the fraternity.

The three-time SuperSixteen champion however proved his mettle by winning the first round on April 17 despite entering the race as a privateer.

"I was very lucky to have managed a good start to the season and now with the team I am ready to bag another title this year," added Yew Choong.

As usual the target is set to win the race and Yew Choong has even got a new engine to help him achieve his goal.

"It is going to be a tough and exciting weekend as we will be racing the north track."

"Since competing in the MSS SuperSixteen category, the races on the full track has always been slight more competitive so I'm expecting the usual such as K. Perajun to be quick," said Yew Choong on his competition.

"I am also on a strict diet to ensure I am fit for the race which is an advantage I must make the most of," he added.

Yew Choong started competing in the Supersixteen since 2006.

He took the overall title that year and in 2007 and 2008.

Last year, he competed in the Supersaloon and won the championship however will not be competing in the category in this year's championship due to the lack of sponsors.
