For the first time in his young World Championship career, Zulfamhi Khairuddin competes in front of his home fans. It is a unique experience for any rider, and a special emotion. Something totallynew. It is not related to mechanics or electronics -nevertheless, it is an issue that he has to learn to deal with. And not the easiest or the lesser one.

The first minutes of his qualifying have been quite unfortunate: a crash at lap four forced him to come back on foot to his garage, and wait while mechanics were busy to repair his bike.

His lap time, clocked at the third lap, was so good that,with 15 minutes to go, he was still in 15th position, and six minutes to the end he was stillin the top twenty. At the end, he has finished 22st, as it was not possible to fix his bike in time.

Sturla Fagerhaug, placed himself one position ahead. The Norwegian clocked his best time at the 9th lap, on a total of 13. Sturla Fagerhaug: "I have had a problem with tyres.With the old ones, I slided. With the new ones, I have had a good grip for a couple of laps, then they too begin to slide.

This means that I hadn't so many chances to post a fast lap. I hope we can find what the reason is, and fix the problem for tomorrow". Zulfahmi Khairuddin: "I suffered a high-side at lap three. I did not expect it at all. I was fast, and trying to push even faster to better my position.

The bike was so badly damaged that I could not continue". Alessandro Tognelli (Technical Director): "Apart from the usual staff, Zulfahmi's bike had the electronic destroyed. We could not change it in time.

It is a pity, as he is very fast on this track - three laps were enough to prove it. I think that, in spite of this misadventure, he can perform a good race, tomorrow. As far as Sturla is concerned, we are analyzing the data to find a setup and fix the problem".
