PETALING JAYA: Teenage riders Mohd Zaqhwan Zaidi and Amirul Haziq Mohd Azmi have won tickets to race in the Malaysian Super Series (MSS) this season.

The duo, selected from the Aprilia Junior GP Racing Dream programme recently, have been offered a full season in the RS125 Junior Class Challenge Cup, a series which will be held over five rounds in the MSS this year.

Junior GP Racing Dream motorsports manager Spencer Mehta said the selectors had worked around the clock to pick the two best riders from the seven who took part in the five-weekend intensive programme held since last November.

Both Mohd Zaqhwan, 13 and Amirul Haziq, 12, were overjoyed by their inclusion in the MSS and promised to work hard to pursue their dreams to be top riders.

Fatin Nur Amira Mohd Nasir, 13, bagged the reserve spot.

The others in the programme were Amirul Hafiq, 12; Tengku Amirul Haffiruddin Tengku Hanafi, 12; Luqman Shakiemi Hakim, 14; and Khairul Azwan Ishak, 13.

“It was a difficult decision to make but we are convinced that the two picked have the potential to be future champions,” Mehta said a press conference to announce the two riders for the MSS biking series in Bangsar yesterday.

The two riders also stand a chance to earn a sponsorship and travel to Spain in November for the “Red Bull Rookies 2009 Final Rider Selection” if they finish top in the RS125 Junior Class race.
