Viewers in the Philippines will now be able to catch the Asian Festival Of Speed on the Viva Prime Channel after an agreement was signed between MP Turbo and Motorsport Asia last November.
Speed TV is a three hour program featuring all things related to motorsport aired in no less than 1.39million households in the Philippines. The program, created by Viva Prime Channel, currently includes two other segments Turbo Time On Air - a radio station recorded to air on TV, as well as Racing Line - a Southern Philippines motoring program. The Asian Festival Of Speed will join this lineup to provide coverage of some of the most exciting race Series in Asia under the biggest Asian Motorsport event.
"We are very happy that AFOS will finally be shown in the Philippines with Speed TV," said veteran international race driver and host of Speed TV, Michael Potenciano. "Being part of the AFOS series before, we had a great time participating in the AF2000 championship in 1996 when we took the Rookie Championship and finally coming back in 2002 where a controversial finish gave us 2nd place overall. The AF2000 non-championship race in Macau last 2002 gave me much hope but ended in a frustration when I was involved in a pile up after running in 5th.
"We had stints also in the Formula BMW Championship in 2004 and have dreamed of joining the Asian Touring Car Series and the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia ever since. We are still working to make this dream come true.
"The event now has grown tremendously since and has become the premiere regional event that Asian drivers are now aspiring to join and show off their skills. With the AFOS TV series now to get more exposure here in the Philippines, we hope that this will trigger the surge of getting a bigger and better group of local racers there.
"Congratulations to David Sonenscher and the whole Motorsport Asia group for organizing such a great event. Mabuhay!"
Motorsport Asia Ltd CEO, David Sonenscher says “Having someone like Mike Potenciano involved is great as he has always been passionate about motorsport and was instrumental in bringing our event to the Philippine masses. Having been involved in the past as a driver himself, he knows how important TV coverage is to the teams and drivers.
“This collaboration will enable us to reach the huge motorsport community in the Philippines who have been very interested to see our race events. The Asian Festival Of Speed features the most exciting race Series’ in Asia and we hope that with this partnership we will be able to see a resurgence of interest from the drivers and teams in the Philippines.
“Motorsport Asia is also pursuing other avenues to further expand the number of viewers of the Asian Festival Of Speed program. Currently, our programs are regularly watched by over 230million viewers in over 70 countries around the world and the number is steadily growing with partnerships such as these. We will be making more such announcements soon” concluded Sonenscher.
The Asian Festival of Speed is recognised regionally and internationally as the premier Asian motorsport event. AFOS comprises of the FIA-Sanctioned Formula V6 Asia, Asian Touring Car Series, ATCS 1500Max Challenge, Formula BMW Pacific and Porsche Carrera Cup Asia and features Formula Asia 2.0 and the Asia Supercar Challenge.
The races in the AFOS calendar offer spectators a chance to witness the rising stars of Asian Motorsport tackle leading drivers and Teams from all around the globe in one action filled, power-packed event.
