A ‘Family Reunion’ for E-Rain in Sepang

13 March 2009, BY Sepang International Circuit

It was a packed day at Sepang International Circuit for E-Rain Racing when American driver, Sean McDonagh got behind the wheel of the Formula V6 Asia. The Malaysian based Korean team have been at the circuit for the past three days to provide test opportunities for possible drivers for both their Formula V6 Asia and the Formula BMW Pacific campaigns.

19 year old McDonagh, who finished second overall in the Formula BMW Pacific series last year, quickly got acquainted with the more powerful 3.5 litre machine and immediately impressed everyone with his speed.

“We are all happy to have Sean here to test the Formula V6 Asia. As soon as he got in the car he felt comfortable and started to set a very fast pace. He looked excited and was very confident with the powerful V6 and he just went for it” said E-Rain Racing Formula V6 Asia Team Manager, Ingo Matter.

McDonagh has been with E-Rain Racing for the past two years competing in the Formula BMW Pacific. Last year, the youngster charted two wins, six podium finishes and six pole positions to clinch the second spot in the Championship behind Hong Kong driver Ross Jamison.

“We have seen him grow from strength to strength, which is why this test is more like a family reunion for us. After the last race we said our goodbyes and it is good to be able to catch up once again and get back to racing” said Matter after the test.

The team also took the opportunity to test two other possible drivers for their 2009 line-up, A1 Team South Africa rookie driver, Christiano Morgado and A1 Team Malaysia rookie driver, Aaron Lim.
